Thank you, Rob Lorei, for sharing Rep. John Lewis' advice to journalists at the Palladium Theater in St. Petersburg, FL recently. In his own words, "...You must not give up. You must not give up. You must hold on. Tell the truth. Report the truth. Disturb the order of things; find a way to get in the way...and make a little noise with your pen, your pencil, and with your cameras..." Rep. Lewis' words in a "Soundtrack for a Revolution," a documentary produced by Danny Glover, go without saying...but I will because of his influence on me and my work. “It simply gets harder each year to raise money. One obvious reason is the growth of worthy organizations competing for the charitable dollar. But probably the more overlooked reason is that more and more fundraisers are better at what they do. So, not only is there more competition, the competition is better.”

Agencies that lack professional grant writing skills can ask themselves: "Can we afford to give this funder anything but the best first impression?"
