A repost in honor of the late Rep John Lewis: Thank you, Rob Lorei, for sharing Rep. John Lewis' advice to journalists at the Palladium Theater in St. Petersburg, FL recently. In his own words, "...You must not give up. You must not give up. You must hold on. Tell the truth. Report the truth. Disturb the order of things; find a way to get in the way...and make a little noise with your pen, your pencil, and with your cameras..." Rep. Lewis' words in a "Soundtrack for a Revolution," a documentary produced by Danny Glover, go without saying...but I will because of his influence on me and my work. Grants for International Youth Exchange and Global Studies

November 10, 2015 Leigh Chambliss

Consider an international Youth Exchange grant for your junior or senior high school student via https://www.rotary.org/en/get-involved/exchange-ideas/youth-exchanges or by contacting your nearest Rotary Club to start inquiring via https://www.rotary.org/en/search/club-finder. For postsecondary global studies and assistance offered competitively through Rotary Club International, see the following document, http://1drv.ms/1RL8FQo. Remember the process takes research, competitive review and/or pending approval (others are vying for the same opportunity), and advance planning. Start early.

Thank you, Rotary International, and all its members.

Grant Writing: Storytelling or Sales?

January 2, 2014 Leigh Chambliss

It's critical to get a strong message in front of the funder. It's often a first impression that becomes your last. Someone shared a quote recently, "If you think it's expensive to hire an expert, try hiring an amateur." Experts have their place and often work faster and smarter with far better results. Consider starting 2014 with boilerplate language written for your agency by a professional grant consultant.

Three Faces of LAC Below:

“It simply gets harder each year to raise money. One obvious reason is the growth of worthy organizations competing for the charitable dollar. But probably the more overlooked reason is that more and more fundraisers are better at what they do. So, not only is there more competition, the competition is better.”

Agencies that lack professional grant writing skills can ask themselves: "Can we afford to give this funder anything but the best first impression?"
